England beat Jamaica 6-0 in their final World Cup warm up match.
It was a typical final warm up match for England, against a poor team, enabling England to win convincingly to enable the team and supporters to look forward to the World cup full of confidence. England played with a 4-4-2 formation, with two players absent from the first choice eleven. Wayne Rooney, as I'm sure everyone in the country knows by now, is recovering from a broken metatarsal, and could be back for the knockout stages of the competition. His replacement Peter Crouch looks to have confirmed his place in the team with a hat-trick. He also missed a penalty - something he might regret if the dubious goals panel takes away his first goal, which looked to be going wide until it was deflected into the goal by a Jamaican player. The other missing player was Gary Neville. Neville has his critics among England fans, but I think he works well with David Beckham, and as an attacking full back he's better than his replacement yesterday, Jamie Carragher. Carragher did well though, defensively he was solid, and he provided the cross for Crouch's second goal. The rest of the team was as expected, and performed as well as you'd expect in a friendly match against weak opposition, with the possible exception of Michael Owen, who, despite scoring his first goal of the year, still looks short of full match fitness. Ashley Cole and John Terry were both substituted in the first half with slight injuries, but they are expected to be fit for England's World Cup opener against Paraguay on Saturday. Goals: Lampard 10, Taylor og 16, Crouch 28, 66, 88, Owen 31.
